British vocalist Annabel Jones’ major-label debut “IOU” gets even punchier in a rework from AObeats. This marks the second instance that the artists have collaborated, following up on the producer’s 2014 rework of Jones’ original “Magnets.”
AObeats, a founding member of LA-based production collective Moving Castle and more recently a solo producer in his own right, leaves Jones’ admonishing vocal topline intact, working in his signature touch with percussive claps and synth riffs. The infectiously buoyant breakdown primes “IOU” for frequent rotation as the temperature rises.
