Eastern musical influences have begun making a larger insertion into Western electronic music as of late, and Bedouin have swiftly become leading figures among this movement. Hailing from New York, the brotherly duo have become known for their entrancing, heavily instrumental music with sonic flavors inspired by their heritage. Bedouin’s music has become become a fixture of the transformational event circuit, with heavy-hitting singles like “Flight Of Birds” appearing regularly in their peers’ sets and driving demand for the duo even further.
Bedouin has reached a career milestone this year by contributing their first Essential Mix to the BBC Radio 1 series’ 2016 collection, which has featured mixes from influential taste-makers such as Âme b2b Dixon and Stephan Bodzin. Bedouin make their Essential Mix debut truly their own, putting forth a multitude of new original music and edits, most of which have yet to be released. Traversing through desert-like soundscapes painted with lush percussion and exotic instrumentation, the brothers weave a mix that sweeps the mind into a dreamlike state.
Standout selections from the mix include Bedouin’s edit of Pink Floyd’s “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” “Set The Controls,” and “Guacamole.” Listen below.
