With United Kingdom-based promoter Sound Channel ambitiously investing a 44-year lease in the Croatian island of Obonjan, the company has a significant interest in making the island a true summer destination. Sound Channel does not set the bar low, as the island’s stated goal, according to their official site, is that “…we can improve the planet by doing what we love. We see Obonjan island as a microcosm; a stage where we can bring into focus how resources get used and reused. Our forty-four year development plan makes us think of generations to come, and what we’ll be handing over to them.” The recently released lineup is a good sign that Sound Channel will succeed in their aims.
The biggest name is British legend Four Tet performing a DJ set. The island will also host sets from Midland, Mr. Scruff, Gilles Peterson, Floating Points and Jessy Lanza. The late DJ Derek — affectionately known as “Britain’s Oldest DJ” — will receive a tribute set from British reggae DJ Don Letts.
Previously announced artists include DJ Shadow and Matthew Herbert. The full lineup is available to view here.
