Ibiza-based duo Audiojack have been on fire lately. Between remixes for Crosstown Rebels, continuing their Sunday Social party at Ibiza club Veto for a second consecutive summer, making their Essential Mix debut on BBC Radio 1, and popping up on top labels such as Hot Creations, Tsuba, it’s safe to say that Audiojack have created quite the buzz for themselves within the global house scene. For the duo’s latest release, they’ve returned to Damian Lazarus’ seminal Crosstown Rebels imprint with a full-on release of their own: a blazing two-track EP entitled Turya.
Lead track “Turya” is something special, an eyes-closed groover with bubbling acid lines, soaring synths and hypnotic vocals that take the listener on a cerebral journey across the dancefloor.
“The idea for ‘Turya’ came from doing a guided meditation,” Richard of Audiojack explains. “We wanted to explore whether the hypnotic quality of the teacher’s words could work on the dance floor, allowing people to lose themselves in them and it’s evolving groove. Seeing people dancing with their heads down and eyes closed is the perfect complement to this track.”
Tight drum programming and propulsive pads give way to a female’s soothing meditative words: “You become more present in your body, completely inhabiting the space,” as synths and a driving bassline arrive to escort the groove to peak territory amidst just the right amount of acid squelch. Meditative, bumping and creative, this track has it all – expect this one to be on blast for a little while.
Turya is available July 22nd on Juno.
