It’s no secret that Philadelphia-based dance legend Josh Wink has a serious love for acid house. From his chart-busting seminal anthem “Higher State of Consciousness”” to his latest outing “Shoelaces” set to drop on Boysnoize Records, the knob-twisting squelch of the 303 has treated the Ovum boss quite well over his illustrious career. For his next offering, Wink has teamed up with Intec Digital’s star label heads Carl Cox and Jon Rundell to rework his 2014 bomb “Talking To You” into an impressive two-track remix EP.
Cox leads the remix duties with a walloping tech-house interpretation of the track, riffing off the menacing vocal and adding in plenty of acid bleeps along the way. London-based Rundell, a long-time secret weapon of Cox, takes a decidedly darker route with the track. Using pounding 909 kicks and the track’s original acid line, Rundell plunges the groove deep into warehouse techno bliss, drawing out the palpable tension of Wink’s original into an ever-ascending percussive acid workout. As if the remixes themselves weren’t enough, Wink is set to join Cox for his fabled final season at Space Ibiza on August 16. Expect these reworks to bang hard on the White Isle and beyond.
Carl Cox and Jon Rundell’s remixes to Josh Wink’s “Talking To You’are available exclusively via Beatport on August 8 and everywhere else two weeks later.
