After re-working Asaf Avidan’s “One Day (The Reckoning Song)” into a revered hit in the underground, German producer Wankelmut attained an advantageous launching pad for his producing career. Since then, he’s since released a bevy of notable originals and remixes that have been happily accepted by his followers which led to his eventual recruitment by BBC to provide an Essential Mix in 2014.
Now Wankelmut presents his first release of 2016: a three-piece Sirens EP. The disco-influenced project ends on a sultry note with “Reprise.” Whereas prior clips are filled with impassioned vocals and light touches of melody, Sirens‘ closer adopts a grungier theme with a groovy bassline and dissonant synthesizers that paint pictures of a dark warehouse floor. Tying together this effect are the soft female vocal samples in “Reprise,” which speak of being taken on a journey through intense sensations.
“Reprise,” along with the rest of Sirens, drops on August 12.
