Dancing Astronaut’s Guide to NYE in Los Angeles

Navigating the throngs of New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles can be daunting; with more shows going on than any other night of the year, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer multitude of options at one’s disposal. From Insomniac-backed EDM festivals, to 24-hour warehouse techno parties, there is truly something for everyone on NYE.

In order to help organize the chaos, we’ve created Dancing Astronaut’s Guide to NYE in Los Angeles. We’ve highlighted 5 parties that are worth checking out for anyone looking to ring in the new year in the City of Angels.

          Minimal Effort NYE (Top Pick)

Minimal Effort has established itself as the largest purveyor of underground dance music in Los Angeles. After a successful Halloween festival at LA Center Studios, the large-scale events brand is now gearing up for their biggest NYE showcase yet at The Globe Theatre. With a lineup that rivals that of many highly coveted European showcases, Minimal Effort will host the likes of German luminaries like Recondite, Stephan Bodzin, and &ME alongside legends like Simian Mobile Disco and Matthew Dear as Audion. With 12 hours of programming across three diverse stages, Minimal Effort is our top pick for NYE.

          All Day I Dream

Lee Burridge’s world-renowned party is returning to Los Angeles for a special New Year’s Day party. As opposed to other events throughout the weekend, All Day I Dream will take place during the day, allowing early risers on New Years’ Day to mingle with adventurous souls still out from the night before. What’s more, ADID takes place in Chinatown’s historic pedestrian plaza, Gin Ling Way. With Lee Burridge, Hoj, and Gorje Hewek & Izhevski lined up to perform, it’s shaping up to be the perfect recovery party after NYE.

Factory 93 presents Get Real (Claude VonStroke & Green Velvet)

Factory 93 is making some serious headway in the Los Angeles underground. After hosting an acclaimed Diynamic showcase with Solomun and friends, Insomniac’s flourishing house and techno brand is bringing dance music’s new favorite duo, Get Real, to their coveted warehouse space in Downtown LA. The collaborative project of Cluade VonStroke and Green Velvet proved a fan-favorite in 2016, and with the additions of Waze & Odyssey and Walker & Royce, Factory 93’s NYE party is bound to be a good time.
