Unfortunate news surfaced earlier this week of iconic London club Fabric‘s indefinite closure. The club has been a mainstay in the UK nightlife scene for quite some time but following the drug-related deaths of two attendees (one instance occurring this past weekend), its future is now up in the air.
Recognizing both the club’s importance and the sticky situation it has found itself in, DJs from all corners of the world are stepping up in an attempt to keep Fabric’s doors open. Utilizing social media as their medium and the hashtag, #SaveFabric, artists such as Sasha, Alan Fitzpatrick, and Jamie Jones are imploring London mayor, Sadiq Khan, to do what he can to reverse the fate of the club.
As of this morning, Khan has responded to the outpouring of support stating that he urges both Fabric, the Met, and the borough of Islington to find a mutual approach that will benefit both the club and club-goers.
