A good remix of Flume is often times a rarity. The Australian producer has such a unique and detailed sound that a proper reimagining of it is, at best, elusive. This does not seem to have held back German producer TRAILS, however, whose remix of “Insane,” from Flume’s 2012 debut album, joins the ranks of Disclosure and Wave Racer’s recent efforts as some of the most successful reworks of Flume to date.
TRAILS aims for homage with his remix, and updates “Insane” with wonky synths and drum programming, big splashy chords, and colorful, alluring melodic leads. It sounds almost like something Flume himself might come up with, which is really saying something.
