Producer IMLAY shines a much needed light on the untapped talent coming out of South Korea with his three-track Origin EP. The neophyte shines on his debut project, producing an ironic aesthetic where complexity meets simplicity. Abstract elements shining atop soulful percussion on “Zanzan” and bass takes a more prominent role in support of electro-folk undertones on “Bird.” Energy builds towards the EP’s crescendo of “Shurai,” a grand finale that represents the body the work with the appropriate tones.
