Not a whole lot has been heard recently in the form of new music from Thomas Jack. As one of the maestros of the summer vibe, it could be that he was just waiting for the aforementioned season to make its resurgence. With summer in full swing, it’s about time to expect some new releases from him
As Jack noted in our interview with him, he does not want to be pigeonholed into a single genre, which happened as a result of him pioneering the tropical house movement. To the casual listener his new single “Rise Up” may sound tropical, and it does have some of the mellow, carefree feelings associated with the genre. However, it does a great job showing that the young artist is moving beyond the genre that brought him to fame and is doing it in such a way as to not alienate the significant portion of his fan base that knows and loves him for it.
An uplifting piano chord progression supports the even more uplifting vocals of Jasmine Thompson, who leads the track into a easygoing main beat that manages to capture a subtle air of sophistication. With classic, simplistic house percussion, Jack gives center stage to the acoustic stand-up bass line and flute melody, which work together with the vocals to create an intelligent mixture of adventure and relaxation.
