We’re no strangers to the Finnish bass music project known as Topi. Over the last couple years, we’ve supported the aspiring producer across the board, featuring his remixes of Skrillex‘s “Fuck That” and Dog Blood‘s “Shred or Die,” as well as his pounding originals like “Order.” While I was excited to see Topi’s Pegboard Nerds remix get a pretty big release back in January, I was even more hyped when he announced that his original “Backup” was going to be released on Monstercat.
“Backup” is a step out of Topi’s comfort zone that definitely pays off. While most of his releases range between dubstep and bass house, his newest single is some hard-hitting moombahcore. Skrillex appears to be a primary influencer for this track, so hopefully we’ll see it dropped in some of his upcoming sets over the next few months. Either way, “Backup” makes for a huge Monstercat label debut for Topi and we can’t wait to hear what he has in store for us!
