India’s burgeoning EDM scene continues to mature in much the same way the US’s did. While big room still reigns supreme, the country’s deep house movement, spearheaded by Housepital records and its sublabel Twisted Shuffle, is quickly gaining momentum. 18East is one such producer. The newcomer’s productions are bold and brash, incorporating elements from the influx of electronic influences now permeating the Indian scene. “Transit” is musclebound, yet melodic, with a swirling concoction of grim techno swirls, twinkling keys, and a flourishing bass line. If this first EP is any indication, expect much more from 18East and his friends in the East.
