Alvin Risk and Hodgy have teamed up as HA — a new creative outlet for the unlikely pairing, pushing an even more unlikely sound. Risk, one of OWSLA’s earliest signees, and Hodgy, a founding member of the former Odd Future collective alongside Tyler, the Creator, have joined forces on “O.P.E.N.,” and infectious R&B-pop crosscut. To say that HA’s new sound is a departure in style for both the rapper and electronic producer would be a profound understatement.
“O.P.E.N.” comes as the first track from the newly minted duo’s recorded backlog of material, as the pair begin to introduce their experimental new project on their debut single. A bright piano melody and textured percussion accents lay the groundwork for Hodgy’s crooning vocals, giving a compelling insight as to what we can expect from the group’s intriguing new direction.
Talk about a crossover project.
