To reimagine Armin van Buuren’s bubbly pop hit “This Is What It Feels Like” in the form of a dark techno soundscape is no easy feat – one which few producers could pull off with finesse that Matt Lange has. Lange charges Armin’s original with an increased tempo and heavy, yet cleanly-composed kicks, while drawing attention to the melancholy nature of the song’s lyrics by way of twisting Trevor Guthrie’s voice into a hollow, forlorn whisper.
Lange has been crafting some especially heavy tracks as of late – his last release, “Unsettled” explored low frequencies at a swift BPM, serving as an aggressive cut in his recent sets. Lange’s edit to “This Is What It Feels Like” surfaced earlier in 2016 and has since been carefully tracked by his followers. Lange’s spin makes up a part of the new Club Embrace remix EP of Armin van Buuren’s recent singles.
