Celebrate DJ Snake’s birthday with his first public release from 2012

Today, June 13, marks French producer DJ Snake‘s 30th birthday.

DJ Snake came to prominence in 2012 when his work on Lady Gaga’s album, Born This Way, earned him a Grammy nomination. Since then, he’s gone on to produce some of dance music’s most popular tracks, like “Bird Machine,” “Turn Down for What,” “Get Low,” and “Lean On.”

His remixes have amounted to similar acclaim, with “You Know You Like It” and “New Slaves” receiving heavy play since 2014. However, the first official public release under the DJ Snake name remains one of his lesser known tracks — though also one of his heaviest.

Back in 2012, DJ Snake, in collaboration with Alesia, flipped “Stress” by Justice to mark the early beginnings of electronic trap music. Stream the track below to hear the difference between his early work, and his more recent, pop-inspired productions like “Middle” with Bipolar Sunshine.
