Celebrate Martin Garrix’s 20th Birthday With His Top 5 Career Moments

At the brisk age of only 20, Martin Garrix has done a lot in his life. From massive, chart-topping releases to hundreds of shows around the world and millions of adoring fans, no one can say that Garrix hasn’t made the most out of his time.

In celebration of his 20th birthday today, we thought we would do something a little different. Rather than list out a typical ranking of his “top tracks” or what have you, we thought it would be more appropriate to list out his top 5 moments of his arguably defining career.

(in chronological order)

The Release Of “Animals”

No song in dance music ever epitomized the peak of big room house than “Animals.” The song was parodied hundreds of times and begged for by thousands of fans at every show. This track, more than anything else, was what really jolted Garrix’s career into 5th gear and catapulted him into the public perception.

Martin Garrix broke ties with Spinnin’ Records

Last year, Martin Garrix cut ties with Spinnin’ Records and MusicAllstars Management in a move that would define his career. Spinnin’ Records was instrumental in the rise of Garrix in 2014/2015, and the move was a shock to the dance music world. Rumors spread and fans worried about the future.

But it wouldn’t take long before…

Martin Garrix announced his own label, STMPD Records

Many young producers begin their own label as a way to put out their own music independently. Dirt Monkey did it with Kairos Audio, Downlink did it with Uplink, and so on. But somehow, this time felt different. Perhaps it was the notoriety and hype that Garrix had already established, but the announcement of STMPD was major.

“My aim with STMPD RCRDS is to foster an artist first community to support great music. It’s important for young, undiscovered talent and veterans alike to have a support system that is invested in and dedicated to their success above all else.”  – said Martin Garrix

Martin Garrix closes out the main stage at Ultra Music Festival

The story goes: in 2013, Martin Garrix attended Ultra as a fan. In 2014, he played the main stage in the afternoon. In 2015, he played it at night. In 2016, he closed it out.

There’s hardly a career defining moment more defining than playing out a bunch of IDs from your unreleased album to an engaging crowd to close out the first night of Ultra Music Festival.

Martin Garrix teams up with FCancer for charity

Though not ostensibly as large and memorable as the other moments on this list, Martin Garrix has shown himself successful enough already at such a young age that he’s already turning his sights toward giving back to the community.

Garrix will see himself team up with FCancer LA at Exchange Nightclub in Los Angeles this Thursday.

Tickets for the event are still available for purchase at http://www.letsfcancer.com/event/la2016/.
