His latest track, “Don’t Let Me Go,” off his forthcoming EP, Runnin, is no exception.
The fact that this track is being released via No. 19 Music, a label whose name was selected for its affiliation with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 19 – representing Freedom of Expression, is no coincidence. “Don’t Let Me Go” is an unmarred representation of the hypnotic vocals, and concise, shuffling drums known to be favored by Lio. The relentless and menacing beat begs listeners to connect with the music on a deeply primal level, matched only by the track’s continual static, reminiscent of the vinyl sound that so many ears are yearning for today.
