Belgian wonderkind producer Maxime Firket, known to the dance world as Compuphonic, has returned back to Berlin-based powerhouse Exploited with a gorgeous two-track EP entitled My Love. Hot off several supporting dates for Tiga’s first ever live tour and a critically acclaimed new mixtape series entitled ‘Compuphonic Tales’, My Love finds the classically trained producer nestling into the intersection of melodic dance music with brilliant results, leveraging his background as a cellist to create lush tones that soothe the ear while pushing the body into motion.
Commenting on the EP’s title track “My Love,” Compuphonic stated, “This track reminds me of a beautiful day in autumn when leaves start falling from trees and the landscape is filled with different colours. It’s an homage to all these great melodic house records I rediscovered when going through my record collection.”
“My Love” begins with bright strings and jangling percussion while sweet vocal wisps and a gentle kick create a cozy vibe. The track ends up doing more with less, using sparse hand claps and a gentle whoosh of cymbals over soft pads to cinematically unravel a sentimental feeling. Autumn or not, Compuphonic’s midas touch for Exploited continues, as “My Love” will undoubtedly find its way into countless playlists across the seasons.
