Billboard Dance has released its annual list of key chess players in the genre, the 2017 Power Players. This year, artists including Steve Aoki, Diplo, DJ Snake, Flume, Clean Bandit, David Guetta, Skrillex, Zedd, Calvin Harris and more make up the star studded list. On the management front, Billboard Dance highlights The Chainsmokers‘ manager and Disruptor CEO Adam Alpert for his part in Drew Taggart and Alex Pall‘s skyrocketing careers, including their Grammy Award, four Billboard Music Awards and five iHeart Radio Music Awards. The publication mentions, “In April, the duos debut album, Memories…Do Not Open, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and [they] embarked on a north American arena tour featuring a live band and an ambitious stage production.”
Marshmello and manager Moe Shalizi are also spotlighted for the masked musician’s breakout year in 2016. In the Tastemakers category, PR mogul and OWSLA co-owner Kathryn Frazier is noted for her company Biz 3’s representation of Skrillex, Daft Punk, Baauer and RL Grime, with Zane Lowe, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, and more also in the category. In the final Heatseakers section, Cashmere Cat‘s impressive production roster including Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Kanye West in addition to his debut album 9 earned him a spot on the list.
