DVBBS have come a long way since “Tsunami.” The rowdy EDM duo have continuously molded and re-molded their sound from festival-focused bangers, to hits like “Gold Skies” to what is now their most sonically eclectic EP to date. The ‘Beautiful Disaster’ short play has some tracks that DVBBS loyalists will recognize — “Not Going Home,” “24K,” and “Ur On My Mind” all reappear on this 6 track pressing. But it’s the three new tracks with guest collaborators Juicy J, Stella Rio, Gia Koka and Ramriddlz, that find Alex and Chris breaking the mold of their past production styles. Big melodic vocals define “Wicked Ways” while “Mooonrock’s” rap-laced party verses and “Doja (No Lie)” groovy disco aesthetic round out the genre-shifting EP.
When asked about their inspiration for the EP, the duo are stoic and reflective;
“This whole world exists in this sacred balance of ups and downs, positives and negatives, all coming together; a beautiful disaster.”
