Here Are The Best Headphones Of 2016

CNET, ever the authority on all things pluggable and tech related, has compiled a list of 2016’s best headphone models. From our beloved V-Moda M-100’s to Bose’s wireless line, the headphones on this list are the world’s latest and greatest.

Each headphone is ranked using the categories of Design, Features, Sound, and Value to reach the overall score. We’ve selected six of our favorites, with a focus on DJing applications, but click here for a look at all twelve headphones on CNET’s list.

Bose QuietComfort 35

The highest ranking headphone on the list, the QuietComfort 35 is an absolute beast. It is considered the best wireless and actively noise-cancelling headphone on the market, though the batteries are not user replaceable, and it’s slightly heavier than its predecessor. Still, you can’t argue with an overall score of 8.8. MSRP $349.99

Sony MDR-1A

Ending with a final score of 8.7, the MDR-1A is for audiophiles who want to hear accurately reproduced sound. This is a wired headphone that packs an in-line remote for phone compatibility, and is hailed to be remarkably comfortable. MSRP $299.99

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x

These headphones boast an incredible value, only $139 on Amazon, and pulled a CNET score of 8.7. Exceedingly comfortable, balanced sound reproduction, and with three stock cord options, these are arguably the best headphones you’ll find under $150.

Audeze Sine

These guys are the priciest on the list at a startling $449, but they are the only model to include planar magnetic drivers, which are responsible for exquisitely high-end sound. Though they feature a closed back design, they’re likely the highest performing headphone on the list in terms of audio quality, and if the rumors are true and Apple ditches the 3.5 mm jack on the iPhone 7, the Sine can be purchased with a lightning port compatible cable.

Beyerdynamic T51i

beyerdynamic-t51i-1

One of the few on-ear headphones to make the grade, the T51i has a sturdy metal construction with swiveling ear cups and a tempting 2-year warranty. They’ve got a CNET score of 8.6 and are available on Amazon for $299.

V-Moda Crossfade M-100

We can never find enough words to describe our love for V-Moda, but we’re happy to see these pulled an overall score of 8.3. Click here for our full review on these military tested beauties. You can find them on Amazon for under $250 if you’re feeling frisky.
