Kanye West has once again embroiled himself in controversy over the course of the past week. After voicing his support for Donald Trump at a concert in San Jose on Thursday, November 18, the outspoken artist began acting erratically. West cut a concert in Sacramento Saturday night following thirty minutes onstage, which included an extensive rant against Jay Z, Beyonce, and Hillary Clinton. The performer went on to cancel all the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo tour after the Sacramento stop.
Recent developments suggest that this series of events is either rooted in deeper issues than Kanye West’s polarizing behavior in the past, or is indicative of pivotal decline in West’s mental health. NBC News reports that the artist has been hospitalized, stating the following:
“Kanye West was under observation at a Los Angeles area hospital late Monday after the remaining dates of his national tour were abruptly canceled, multiple authorities familiar with the case told NBC News.
The admission followed a week of bizarre incidents during which the provocative rapper publicly railed against fellow music stars Beyoncé and Jay Z and retroactively endorsed President-elect Donald Trump.
A source familiar with the case said Los Angeles police responded to a medical welfare call about 1:20 p.m. (4:20 p.m. ET). No criminal activity was involved; the decision to hospitalize West was for his own health and safety, the sources said.”
No further details regarding West’s hospitalization have been revealed at press time. Dancing Astronaut will update this article as more information becomes available regarding the incident.
