Listen to Feed Me’s timeless remix of Gorillaz from 2010

Back in 2010, the inimitable Jon Gooch, better known as Feed Me, devised a charming remix to Gorillaz’ “Melancholy Hill.” Taken from the animated group’s seminal Plastic Beach, Feed Me’s official remix emphasized the best aspects of the original while bringing it into a fresh, dancefloor-friendly context.

Outside of the awesomeness of the chance remix, the song also showcased a lighter, more sentimental side to Feed Me’s work — a sharp contrast to early releases like “Muscle Rollers” and “Grand Theft Ecstasy.” The result was what can only be described as a timeless reimagining — one that we’re still enjoying six years later.

In honor of Gorillaz’ impending new album, which reportedly should be finished any week now, it’s worth revisiting Feed Me’s iconic take on “Melancholy Hill.” Listen to it below.
