The dance community tragically lost one of its members earlier this morning, August 28. Florida DJ and producer Big Makk has been identified as one of three involved in a fatal car crash in Seminole County. As reported by Channel 2 News, the driver of a Dodge Charger ran into a tree by the All Faiths Memorial Park Cemetery around 7am, causing the car to incinerate and take the lives of all inside.
Big Makk has been an active member of the bass community for several years, beginning his path toward a career in DJing at the age of 13 when he began spinning hip-hop. His hard work developed into a unique brand of bass music which often transcended genres, serving as a launch pad for releases on prolific labels such as Mad Decent in addition to bookings at major festivals such as EDC. He also hosted a weekly “Shake ‘n’ Bass” night in Orlando, which was still running up until his loss of life.
Our condolences go out to Big Makk’s family, friends, and fans.
