As if signing to Dim Mak three years ago at just 18 years old wasn’t a large enough feat for the bedroom producer turned full-fledged phenom Max Styler, now he’s arrived with yet another captivating reminder of why any electronic music enthusiast should be keeping tabs on him.
In his latest musical venture “Secrets,” Styler taps CXLOE, the Banks-reminiscent Chloe Papandrea for vocal duties. With her pronounced pop sensibility, CXLOE occupies a sonic space somewhere between folk and electronic that is all her own. Pairing a stripped-down production style with a bouncing bassline and seductive vocals, Styler’s created a forward-thinking hybrid of bass music and R&B on “Secrets.”
While the tune is a divergence from his previous releases, the newfound sound and CXLOE’s unique vocals make for an irresistibly danceable track.
