MDMA poses greater danger to women than men according to new study

New research by the Global Drug Survey points to MDMA usage being more dangerous for woman than men. After observing emergency care visits caused by consuming the drug over the past three years, scientists analyzed statistics to find that the amount of women seeking care quadrupled that of men.

A stark difference between genders and adverse effects by MDMA is becoming clearer as time goes on, according to the investigative entity, which later stated that women have a 2-3x larger risk of ending up in the emergency room than men. Dr. Adam Winstock, owner of the Global Drug Survey, urges women “to pay extra attention to things like how much they are using, how they are mixing, where they are and who they’re with.”

Further research into why women are more susceptible to the drug became a priority following the deaths of 10 females in 2016 alone. Multiple factors could contribute to the increased risks, one of which is the spike in high-dose ecstasy pills in the current market. Additionally, oestrogen and its tendency to cause the body to retain more water supposedly comes into play.
