Meet the Underground Talent of CRSSD Fest: PNAU

CRSSD‘s 8th edition continues celebrations of the festival’s third year around the sun. Hosted at its usual location at the picturesque Waterfront Park in San Diego, the semi-annual event certainly hasn’t faltered in its lineup curation, inviting the likes of Guy J, Helena Hauff, Sofi Tukker, and Claptone onto its bill across September 29 + 30. Dancing Astronaut joins organizers in digging a little deeper into its roster to unearth its top underrated performers to find out their backstories thus far.

Those who reached adolescence in the Aughts have more than likely heard the name “Empire Of The Sun.” The supergroup rose to prominence when indie electro pop reigned supreme, and have continued to enjoy widespread success since their break. What they might not know, however, is that half of the super duo — Nick Littlemore — actually has a side project. The project in question is called PNAU, and alongside his brother Sam Littlemore and fellow Aussie producer Peter Mayes, the group have emerged as one of the more groundbreaking acts to come out of the island continent.

PNAU have a long history stretching nearly two decades to when the group was merely a duo creating disco-tinged dance music in the late 1990s. Throughout their long-standing career, the trio continues to exceed expectations, most recently with their last album Changa. From their music to their live hows, they are not artists one quickly forgets. From those first few beats of a PNAU track, it is almost impossible to stay still. Leading up to their performance at the September 2018 edition of CRSSD Fest, the trio took time to chat with Dancing Astronaut about performing at festivals, a new album, and more.

What are the biggest things in your pipeline at the moment?
New PNAU album which is very exciting. Taking the brain to inner reflection and remembrance of dimensions lost at any cost.
