NMF Roundup: sound track your weekend with new goodies from Fehrplay, Kryder, Michael Brun, and more : Dancing Astronaut

The most important day of every week: New Music Friday. As each week brings a succession of new music from some of electronic music’s biggest artists, here’s a selection of tracks that shouldn’t be missed.

Knapsack had to overcome his personal dissatisfaction with “Matrix,” which he pointed to as having been a deeply personal work. The rolling bass tune slides down warm hills of string and synth for a pleasing effect.

“Born At Night” has been an unreleased ID for over three years now. It’s finally arrived, with Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman pairing with Sirena to create a feel-good commercial house composition for the main stage.

DallasK adds his own cheery spin to the infectious Tritonal single “Luv U Right,” which draws its appeal largely from Lourdiz’ vocals. The original is twisted into a whistful pop house jam that summons carefree memories.

Newcomer Kevin Courtois joins forces with twerking extraordinaire Lexy Panterra for a mellow number called “Uncertainty” that certainly feels heavily influenced by The xx — from the warm guitar riffs, to the ethereal vocals and bittersweet atmosphere. They’ve done well in instilling a sense of calm into their record, much like the band that inspired them.

“Supercool” feels like the sonic equivalent of consuming an ice cream cone on a hot day. Olwik & Raie tap Felix Adebe for vocal duties, resulting in a funk-influenced number whose nostalgia is balance with a modern edge.

There’s no going wrong with a bubbly festival house track that coats its listeners in a sweet glaze of catchy vocals and euphoria-inducing saw synths. METAFO4R gets the job done effortlessly in, “The Best Part Of Me,” sparking the urge to happily bounce around to its galloping drop.

Haitian wonder Michael Brun brings the heat in the appropriately-dubbed “Spice,” whose pitched-down, but invigorating house underlay is transformed into a tougher number with the assistance of Kah-Lo’s verses.

This song is definitely NSFW, but a fantastic listen for feeling vengeful outside the office. TeaMarr’s fiery vocals speak to many, and the swing-based production beneath is wildly infectious.

Coyu‘s Suara imprint changed directions from its original tech house aesthetic in 2017, building up its portfolio in various other shades of house and techno since. Its newest EP showcases the melodic variety currently sweeping the underground, with “Pulsar” by Oliver Winters and GNTN serving as a standout.

It’s difficult not to want to funk out to Krafty Kuts and Dynamic MC’s, “Impact.” Funk-influenced guitar and bass are accented by other nostalgic elements, creating a retro scene in the mind filled with block parties and underground hip-hop clubs.

Fehrplay‘s newest EP on his Mood Of Mind imprint is filled with uplifting sentiment and blissful melodies that feel like a warm breeze or a fresh cup of coffee. Its title track is particularly tasteful, with chaotic riffs of synthesizer leading into a chunky drop that makes listeners want to stomp on the floor.

Up-and-coming Netherlands-based duo Silque offer up an infectious new original work titled “Chasing Love” on Martin Garrix’s own STMPD RCRDS. Striking piano chords and strong vocal loops power this easy listening house gem that’s worth multiple repeated listens.

Kaskade’s most recent delivery, “Fun,” with BROHUG and Mr. Tape has proven to be a versatile canvas for some solid remix work. AC Slater and Phlegmatic Dogs recently took on the Arkade label head’s newest original piece and now King Arthur is giving “Fun” another set-primed rework effort.

Kryteria Records helmer, Kryder comes through with a spicy new original work, “La Cumbiambera” alongside Columbian powerhouse collaborator, Cato Anaya. Be wary of starting this one though — once you turn it on you won’t be able to get yourself to turn it off. You’ve been warned.

Armada Records recruit Funkin Matt takes on “Twilight vs. Breathe” with a bouncy new remix treatment that’s primed for heavy club play. Reach for this one when looking for a smooth house cruiser — Funkin Matt won’t disappoint.

Tujamo and Salvatore Ganacci have a new weekend shuffler in the bag on their new joint effort. The collaboration, titled, “Jook It,” is a fist-pumping house thumper with Kingston’s Richie Loop providing his signature dubby vocals. “Jook It” is out now via Spinnin’ Records.

UK electronic outfit Vessels have enlisted Max Cooper for a remix of “Everyone is Falling,” from the band’s 2017 LP, The Great Distraction. Complementing the original with his personal touch, Max Cooper offers an extended electronic rework with a distinct experimental appeal.

Toronto mainstay DJ and producer Ryan Shepherd drops off a feel-good dance piece titled “Blue Monday” marked by addicting pitch bending vocal loops and effects. Bold keystrokes, snappy percussion, and tightly wound builds carry the tune through, coming together as an aced original work from Shepherd.

Shaun Frank grabs vocalist YA-LE for a sensual house joint on Ultra Records called, “Bon Appétit” that rides plucky synthwork and infectious verses with an ear worm hook that is perfect the tail end of pool party season.
