Shades (the duo consisting of EPROM and Alix Perez) have been putting out a steady stream of impeccable releases since 2015. In preparation for their debut full-length album, coming this July on Deadbeats Records, the producers have just released the project’s first single, “The Saga.”
Building on their dark and bass-heavy catalog, Shades pair their signature bounce with ominously distorted bass stabs and explosive vocal samples. Sitting at the perfect intersection of hip-hop beats and half-time bass music, Shades once again prove to be some of the most forward-thinking producers in the game. Their new album, In Praise of Darkness, is shaping up to be one of the summer’s most anticipated releases.
